Hussein M. Elmehdi received his PhD from the University of Manitoba, Canada in 2000 in Biomedical Physics. He joined the University of Sharjah, UAE, in 2006. He is an accomplished researcher with a long track record of scholarship, having written or co-written over 100 peer reviewed papers, conference papers, eBooks, book chapters and reviews. He is leading several research projects in the fields of Biomedical Physics and Education. He held several key leadership positions including Dean of Academic Support Services, Chairperson on Scientific and Scholarly Events Unit, and considered an expert in higher education administration and teaching with over 25 years of experience leading transformative educational initiatives in diverse and challenging environments in several countries. He has garnered multiple honors for research and teaching achievements, most recently receiving the UNESCO-ICHEI/ Higher Education Digitization Pioneer Case Award (Dec 2023). He has a registered “knowledge Product” at UNESCO and Led the UOS digital transformation during and post COVID-19. In addition, he has received several local and national awards, the most recent of which is the University of Sharjah Special Award for Outstanding Services in Teaching and Learning. Currently he is leading a strategic project with Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation (AGF)-UOS entitled “Accelerating Digital Transformation in Teaching and Learning at the University of Sharjah: A Strategic Approach”. He participated in setting up the UOS strategy for digital transformation including content update, course design and assessment.
