Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Maksoud is a Consultant Psychiatrist and the Chief Medical Officer of Maudsley Health. He is also currently the Assistant Director for Medical Affairs at Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital in Dubai.
He completed the senior house officer training in psychiatry in Birmingham and Solihull NHS Foundation Trust. He completed the membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2007 and then completed the higher registrar training in General Adult Psychiatry in London Deanery. He obtained the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Adult Psychiatry in 2011.
He has a special interest in mental health care quality, and he has a unique experience of working with quality teams to obtain mental health-specific JCIA accreditations in the U.A.E.
Dr. Waleed Ahmed is a Consultant Psychiatrist with two decades of experience and expertise in managing mental health conditions in children, adolescents, and adults. He is currently the Clinical Director at Maudsley Health in Abu Dhabi.
Maryam is a Zayed University graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. During her studies, she focused on understanding psychological development in children, which sparked her interest in how early life experiences shape mental health.
Her professional journey has been shaped by a strong commitment to mental health, especially in perinatal care. She worked with individuals facing mental health challenges, gaining insights into adult and perinatal mental health. This experience deepened her understanding of the unique challenges that pregnant and postpartum women face, especially in the context of cultural and community factors.
As a DOH Licensed Assistant Psychologist at Maudsley Health, Maryam actively supports the perinatal services team, assisting with clinical assessments and daily activities. She is passionate about the mental health needs of women during pregnancy and after childbirth, considering the cultural and community influences that impact their well-being. Maryam is dedicated to enhancing her knowledge in this area and plans to pursue further training to better support perinatal mental health within diverse communities.

Prof. David Forbes Ph.D. is the Academic Director of Maudsley Health and a Professorial Fellow to the Department of Psychiatry, University of Melbourne. He is a clinical psychologist with 30 years’ experience in the assessment and treatment of mental health impacts of trauma and adversity. He is an international expert in posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), leading the inaugural Australian national clinical practice guidelines for the treatment of PTSD and current Chair of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies PTSD clinical guidelines committee.
Prof. Forbes has published over 270 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and has a strong track record in leading initiatives to improve outcomes for people affected by trauma through the translation of research into effective policy, practice and service system initiatives.
