2nd Diabetes Education Conference

The 2nd Diabetes Education Conference 2025, under the theme "Personalised Diagnostics & Therapeutics: Where Man Meets Machine, What Comes Next?" was held on September 6th at the Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel, UAE. Presented by the Imperial College London Diabetes & Endocrine Centre (M42), this pivotal event convened a multidisciplinary community of diabetes educators, endocrinologists, and allied health professionals to explore the practical integration of artificial intelligence, smart technology, and personalized medicine into everyday diabetes management and education.

The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Tomader Ali with a visionary opening ceremony on "Tomorrow’s AI and MedTech World in Diabetes Education." This set the stage for a keynote by Dr. Mai Al Jaber, who provided a strategic perspective on preparing for a fast- paced future in diabetes care, followed by Dr. Fernando Macario. The morning’s plenary session, "From Data to Action," featured Dr. Mohammed E. Al-Sofiani discussing how interoperable data insights drive smarter, proactive care. This was complemented by a dynamic panel on "Changes in the Landscape of Diabetes Care, Education, and Practice," moderated by Dr. Muhammad Atullah and featuring experts Dr. Zainab Al Abadla and Dr. Mohammed Khalifa.

The core of the conference was divided into two intensive tracks. MedTech and Pharmacotherapy Track I focused on Insulins & Combination Therapies, with presentations on advanced insulin pump therapy, obesity management as a disease, and transformative innovations in pediatric and complex cases like cystic fibrosis-related diabetes. Track II covered Oral Agents & Non-insulin Injectables, delving into complex case management, including LADA, polypharmacy in patients with multiple comorbidities, and the critical role of technology in patient engagement.

The afternoon transitioned into a series of highly practical Immersive Learning Sessions, designed as combined lectures and hands-on workshops. These sessions provided in- depth, experiential training on leading technologies, including the MiniMedâ„¢ 780G system and the latest Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) platforms like FreeStyle Libre, focusing on their application in managing poor glycemic control and empowering patients.

The conference concluded with integrative discussions on "Holistic Allied Health Patient Care," emphasizing a team-based approach, and a forward-looking session on "Diabetes Education – Specialist Career Path & Coaching." By seamlessly blending strategic foresight, advanced clinical therapeutics, and hands-on technological training, the 2nd Diabetes Education Conference provided an essential roadmap for professionals to navigate and lead the evolving, tech-driven landscape of personalized diabetes care.
