3rd Annual Diabetes & Endocrine Conference

The 3rd Annual Diabetes & Endocrine Conference, presented by the Imperial College London Diabetes & Endocrine Centre (M42), was held on November 8-9, 2025, in Abu Dhabi. This premier event brought together leading endocrinologists, diabetologists, and allied health professionals to navigate the rapidly evolving landscape of metabolic, endocrine, and cardiorenal medicine, with a strong emphasis on practical case management, technological integration, and therapeutic innovation.

Day One was inaugurated with an opening address by Dr. Fernando Macario and a comprehensive Diabetes Update from Prof. Maha Barakat. The core of the morning featured interactive Parallel Workshops, offering deep dives into real-world case management across four critical clinics: Type 1 Diabetes, Type 2 Diabetes, Pituitary Disorders, and Thyroid Disease. These repeated sessions provided focused, practical learning directly from specialist clinicians. The afternoon sparked vigorous discussion with a formal Debate Session chaired by Prof. Karim Meeran on the role of bariatric surgery in obesity management. The scientific agenda then progressed to address high-priority topics including MASLD (Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease) in high-risk groups, a paradigm shift in Type 2 Diabetes management, and the revolutionary potential of tirzepatide. The day concluded with a focused review on managing the interconnected challenges of diabetic retinopathy, hypertension, and resistant hypertension.

Day Two elevated the discourse to systemic integration and future-forward strategies. The morning sessions explored the frontier of Precision Medicine in Type 2 Diabetes with Dr. Shivani Misra and provided crucial Endocrine Updates from Prof. Karim Meeran, covering PCOS management and the role of genetics. The conference then dedicated significant attention to the role of technology, with sessions on AI & Algorithm-Driven Decisions for personalized diagnostics and the specific application of Artificial Intelligence in the endocrine field. The parallel workshops from Day One were repeated, allowing attendees to explore another specialty clinic. The latter part of the day was dedicated to the critical Cardiovascular-Kidney-Metabolic (CKM) axis, featuring discussions on novel strategies for LDL-C control, intensive dyslipidemia management post-MI, and the unifying role of semaglutide. The agenda also included essential updates on Diabetes and Bone Health, focusing on redefining osteoporosis care.

By seamlessly blending hands-on case-based workshops with high-level updates on therapeutics, technology, and the CKM syndrome, the 3rd Annual Diabetes & Endocrine Conference provided an indispensable and holistic educational experience. It successfully equipped clinicians with the advanced knowledge and practical frameworks needed to deliver integrated, patient-centered care in the modern era of endocrinology.
